New Coastal Ship to Boost Freight Capacity

Spirit of Independence, Pacifica Shipping’s newest addition to it’s coastal fleet, made it’s maiden call to Nelson on the 19th of December 2012.
With a TEU capacity of 672 containers, the new vessel is 40% bigger, faster and more fuel efficient than its predecessor 'Spirit of Resolution'. The vessel will provide scheduled weekly calls to Auckland, Lyttelton , Nelson and New Plymouth.
Pacifica says that in conjunction with its’ other vessel 'Spirit of Endurance', the ship will greatly improve the logistical capability of the coastal network and enhance productive use of existing ports’ infrastructure and facilities.
