Quaypack handles pipes weighing over 2 tonnes each

This week saw slightly novel activity on-port as Quaypack, Port Nelsons’ on-wharf container packing and unpacking service, devanned twenty one 40’ containers of pipes destined for a sewerage project in Marlborough. At 12m long and over two tonnes in weight, each pipe had to be carefully removed from its container using a special probe and then loaded onto a TNL truck for the 115km onwards journey. Spread over a couple of days the process was completed seamlessly and safely.
