Port Nelson was recently host to one of the worlds most sophisticated expedition vessels in the form of the MV Alucia.
The 56m vessel spent 4 days in Nelson for crew R and R, following missions filming great white sharks off Stewart Island and tagging whales off Kaikoura.
With a crew of 26, the ship carries three deep diving submersibles as well as its own helicopter.
The crew spent their time enjoying many of the outdoor activities that Nelson is famous for, as well as partaking in a number of vineyard tours and dinners.
Alucia departed 26/3 for Auckland, where it was to undergo a three month refit, before heading to the Solomon Islands for another charter.
