Security Operator (Shift Work)

About the role
In this permanent part-time role, day to day you will play a really important part in the security of the port, being the first point of contact for both customers and other port users such as logistics companies. This includes all those involved in inward and outward goods movements, as well as local and international shipping.
While you will be responsible for all entry and surveillance on site while situated at the main entrance gate, you will also get the opportunity out of the office carrying out inspections, providing shuttle services and patrolling the site. Plus you will be the communication link to ships while they are in port.
About you
You might come from a security or police force background, or similar professional looking for a career change. In fact, you could come from a wide range of related sectors, ones which requires you to have a high level of customer focus, and a willingness to go above and beyond.
Your goal will always be to offer only the very best service to your team, customers, and port users. When under pressure you have the ability to be polite, yet assertive, and to think on your feet while still making well-considered decisions.
Crucial is your ability to work across a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
In addition, you will be:
- Adaptable, conscientious, diligent and friendly;
- A team player and reliable;
- Able to multi-task and prioritise as and when required;
- An exceptional communicator with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
- Computer literate and able to pick up systems and processes with ease;
- Ideally you will have experience in security (with a qualification preferred);
- Flexible to provide support on our roster and short-notice cover; and
- Most importantly, you enjoy shift work and the ability to enjoy the region during your rostered days off.
