Port Nelson released its first Climate-Related Disclosures Report

Port Nelson’s first Climate Related Disclosures Report outlines the risks and opportunities arising from the impact of climate change on the Port's activities in the short, medium, and long term. The report aligns with the goal of climate-related disclosures to support capital allocation toward initiatives that address climate change.

Colin Devenish, Port Nelson’s General Manager, Environment, Infrastructure & Maintenance, highlighted the Port's commitment to reduce carbon emissions by at least 67% of 2019 emissions by 2035. “As a member of the Climate Leaders Coalition, we are actively developing plans that align with scientific recommendations to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. This report is an important part of our commitment to inform stakeholders about the potential implications of climate change on our operations and to outline our strategy for addressing these challenges.”

Colin further stated, “Over the next three years, our report will continue to evolve, and we aim to achieve full compliance by the end of the 2026 financial year.”
